Sukhna lake is a natural paradise located in the ' The City beautiful' Chandigarh . It is the only water reservoir in this city. It was build in 1958 and lake has just 3 square km of water body. It is one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in India  It is the most popular  tourist attraction of Chandigarh and is an integral part of Chandigarh's cultural life and recreational activities .

The Shivalik Range forms the drop curtain of the lake reminding that you are in foothills of Himalayas , if you look upwards, you can see clear blue skyline and winged beauties give you best companionship.
This Lake offers you the abundant experience of  diversity of  nature. People also enjoy  doing boating, shopping at souvenir shops, getting their portraits sketched, feeding ducks, watching Le Corbusier sketches. This place relaxes our mind and gives peace to your soul away from the hustle bustle from the city.

Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary

Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary is located near Sukhna Lake , most of the people don't know about this place. It forms the part of  Lake's catchment area  spreading over an area of 2600 hectares. Sanctuary mostly opens  during winter season as during this period migratory birds return. Here you can see different kinds of beautiful birds and animals. The sanctuary has numerous ponds and lakes created by earthen check dams. 

The migratory water-birds generally arrive in the beginning of October and peaks in mid-January. The  most commonly sighted species include the Drake, the Shelducks, the Grey Heron, the Crested Grebe, the Spot-billed duck, the Purple Heron, the Black winged Slit, the Sandpiper, the Common Coot and many more. The sanctuary is visited by  10,000  birds annually.

Garden of Silence

Peace 

Garden of Silence is a meditative place located at the end of Sukhna Lake . This is the latest monument in Chandigarh. The statue of Buddha is surrounded by stepped layers. This place you can find people doing yoga early morning.
